Wow! What an awesome place to eat. It was a very beautiful restaurant with an upscale feel. This is the place you go, when you're wife wants a fancy dinner! Such good food, and atmosphere. Vince, the owner, was very kind and came and checked on us! Definitely recommending this place.

Went by today to set up a local group dinner. Unfortunately, they are now closed for business. Nice local family place.

As someone who is always looking for a good Italian restaurant that is not Americanized I found Vitello's to be very enjoyable. Their Chicken Marsala and Canneloni were excellent, fresh bread was excellent, the ambiance was comfortingly typical of authentic small Italian places, and our server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Their food is excellent to-go as well. I will definitely be frequenting this place.

Fantastic place for lunch, and probably one of the best, if not the best Jazz joints in all of Los Angeles. Great cocktails, fantastic pizza, and one of the best wine lists in the area. They recently gave the bar a face lift - you have to check it out, it looks incredible.

love their hot bread and butter. delicious food, with huge portions. I especially love their eggplant parmesan (it's served on angel hair~bonus!) Definitely will be back again.

It is a pleasure to write that I did get the premier parking spot and unlike another review I wrote, that was not the best part of the experience. This is a neighborhood style restaurant that runs itself like a destination. We especially appreciated the accommodating and friendly service but their food is made to order-fresh, very tasty and the portion size was just right. I'm so glad we decided to give it a shot. I'd like to shout out to the negative reviewers on this restaurant that you might want to give it another shot... Looks like they listened to you. Yelp works!

Great traditional Italian food, service and prices! We dined in the back patio room and I was concernd it might be to chilly but it was very pleasant.

Attended a group function on the patio. Normally, I wouldn't expect much. The food was hot, tasty and our waiter and support staff were spot on. I had no issues with anything, and can't wait to come back & try it again.

Vitello's consistently delivers great food, great service and satisfaction. Finally, traditional Southern Italian food in Thousand Oaks.

Four of us had dinner here last night, two of us for the first time. We loved it. The food is awesome, nice wine selection, nice ambiance (in the back dining room next to a fountain)and the waitress (Daniella) was terrific! We will definitely be back and we were grateful that this restaurant was a part of the "Conejo Valley Restaurant Week", because that is why we chose this spot for dinner. Highly recommend it.

An Italian restaurant that over-cooks spaghetti until it's mush. Very noisy. Service was slow. Next time I'll eat at Macaroni Grill and pay half the price for better food.

Although the service was excellent, the Caesar salad had very little flavor. Tthe thin crust pepperoni pizza also had no taste and the pizza crust was like hard cardboard. Wine and beer were good.

On March 19, 2015, I went to Vitello's w/ a group of ten girlfriends. I had a house salad w/ chicken. Very delicious! The portion was so big, I asked them to bring 1/2 in a to-go box. Our table ordered everything from salad, pizza, pasta, chicken parmesan, etc. From the service, time meals arrived and tasted .... not a complaint amongst us. (And, some of these girls are pretty H.M.!!) I am going back to night, will let you know .....

I went to Vitello's on Friday night with my wife. We had the calamari (freshly breaded) to start, which was fantastic. The complimentary sesame rolls are delicious as well. We each had a glass of wine and shared the vongole (we ordered it with the Arrabiata sauce). The server even split the dish free of charge. Great food and even better service. The homemade connoli's are awesome. This is the second time we have been there and will definitely going back again soon.

Hands down the best Italian restaurant in the area. The service is very friendly and accommodating, the food is superb, and it has a great atmosphere. My favorite dish is the penne with pink sauce, but I have tried a few other things too and have never been disappointed. I also find it pretty hard not to order the tiramisu every time I go. You should definitely give this place a try if you haven't yet.

Went to Vitellos with my daughter after looking at cars at the auto mall. We just showed up with no reservation but with the great smells coming from the restaurant and being Italian with my taste buds formed by my familia, I was ready for the best and I was not disappointed. I had the veal parm and my daughter had the eggplant, we shared a chopped anti pasta salad....all was as good or better than mama made (sorry mama)...the gravy was great and the veal was fantastic... This is a great place and I highly recommend it to all my friends and family.

We booked our daughters birthday celebration based on a few good reviews we read. This fantastic Italian restaurant exceeded our expectations! The staff was VERY friendly and attentive, food was amazing! Dining room was cozy with a "right at home" feeling to it! Prices very reasonable! We can't wait to go back

You would never know it from the looks of this amazing place. I grew up in an huge Italian family from Jersey with a grandmother that owned a butcher shop and only cooked with HOME-MADE pasta. I felt like we were eating at home again! YOU'VE GOT TO VISIT and decide for yourself.... I promise your mouth will EXPLODE! Thanks guys, www LANLP com

This place is exceptional! We had the eggplant parmesan and pizza, and they were delish and tasted authentic. Our server was very attentive and made sure our dining experience was superb. It was a drive from Sherman Oaks but it was so worth it. And, we are planning on going back in the next few weeks.

Thought the ambiance from the outside was inviting.. Was sat immediately in the rear patio.. That's when it all started to go south.. Calamari was deep fried with what looked like corn meal.. The worst!!! My veal Marsala I thought was a good choice till it arrived .. I kid you not 5oz of pounded something .. Could have been pork for all I know .. Swimming in a pool of brown sauce ... This little gem ran me $19.95. Save yourself the time and $$$$$$. Left Hungary !!! Service was great thought ... That's why the 2 stars

A very good Italian restaurant located in a quaint neighborhood. I dined there last night with my wife and cousin and totally enjoyed the overall experience. I had the veal scaloppine and it was excellent! Service was excellent as well and the price of the total meal was very fair. We have eaten there a few times and have always had a really nice time.

Great service in this smallish storefront truly Italian resturant. The lasagna is the best in the area. My wife loves their baked pasta dishes and the house salad. Decent Italian wine list and corkage fees are sane. Did I tell you how great the service is? Peek into the kitchen and speak to the chef, he seems amiable to questions.

Finally! GOOD Italian food! We drove 15 miles to check this place out and each dish was more amazing then the next. You have to try the minestrone soup it was great. The bread is so good it is easy to fill up on. We had the spaghetti w/sausage, veal saltimbocca, fried zucchini, and you can't forget to try the tiramisu!

January 18th 2015 I held my daughter's bridal shower at this restaurant and was extremely satisfied with the venue for many reasons. For one, the location provided privacy in a beautiful room in the back of the restaurant with room for people to walk around and socialize. The owner Vince, was very accommodating, working around our schedule and providing the extras necessary to make everyone comfortable and the tables necessary to handle gifts and handouts. The food was great and very reasonable. Vince again worked with us on the menu and provided variety and a vegetarian plate for those requesting it.

Overall excellent. Found out thanks to On Star's suggestion. Good service, large portions, great food and good ambiance. Had the veal masala, salad, zucchini fritters followed by a canoli. Made my birthday better :-)

Very cute place. Nice ambiance! I had the pizza and I didn't think it was very good. Tasted kind of like a frozen pizza to me. I saw some people eating pasta and it looked good, but the price for it was a little high! The spumoni cake was fairly good. The staff was excellent, very polite and helpful!

Love this place. Great servers/wait staff. No, "Hi, my name is..." just great, fast service. Everybody knows what they're doing and it shows. Veal Saltimbocca is fantastic (all the veal dishes are done well) and the antipasta salad (large) is a meal in itself. Glad to see this lovely restaurant in Thousand Oaks. We should support it - a true gem.

Love this place. Came here with my family last week looking true authentic italian food. We definitely found the spot. The bread they serve at the beginning was fresh and piping hot. The food was so flavorful and you can tell the chef is from Italy. i got the chicken piccata. YUM! they ave a cute outdoor patio open on the weekend. We had great service too. Luckily we live down the street so we will for sure be coming to this place more often!

Very overpriced, a la cart menu. The Pollo Francese was supposed to be dipped in egg batter. There was no batter and NO flavor. For $18.50 they could have thrown in some veggies and pasta. Don't waste your time and money.

Exceptional service- I called and ordered a gift card to be delivered to some friends whose baby is in the hospital nearby. The guy just called me back to say that he went and delivered it at the hospital himself to make sure it didn't get lost. Talk about good old-fashioned service.

This little place is filled with regulars...and it has a new applicant. Cute, pleasant, and delicious -- it's just south of a 5.0 star. Front room, at night, is dimly light and intimate...borderline romantic. The back, a partially enclosed patio with 10-12 tables, and can enjoy live music each Thursday night and is ideal for a group. The menu is wonderful. Filled with 8-12 items in each category, it has many commonly unfound on the west coast: Chicken Francese, Veal Saltimbocca, Carciofi, Sausage & Peppers, Braciole, and Homemade Cannolis. It reminded of me New York (and I miss it so), so this quaint little place also immediately shot straight to my heart. Service was warm and friendly, responsive and efficient by Mary. Later, the owner and head chef, Vince, came out. He's wonderful, both hospital and charming. What I tried: 1. Margherita Pizzetti di Stefano ($9.95) -- Ultra thin crust. Nice! (4.0 stars) 2. Chicken Francese ($20.95) - Scallopini dipped in egg batter and sautéed with fresh mushrooms in a white wine sauce. Portion large, quite wonderful! (4.5 stars) 3. Saltimbocca ($21.95) - Sautéed veal medallions with prosciutto, fontina cheese, fresh mushrooms, and spinach in a white wine sauce. Amazing! Winner of the night. (5.0 stars) 4. Homemade Cannoli ($5.95) -- not your standard ricotta-filled, these little fingers are delightful and creamy. (4.5 stars) I will return, often. I must try: Braciole, Penne Al Forno, Ravioli Tre Formaggi, Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Cacciatore, Chicken Piccata, Filet of Sole, Linguini with Fresh Clams, Shrimp fra Diavolo, Shrimp Parmigiana, Mediterranean Scampi, Sausage & Peppers, Deep Dish Chicago Style Pizza. Oh yeah: Homemade Tiramisu, Homemade Cheesecake, Homemade Cannoli, Spumoni Cake -- whew! Yes, I have lots to do.

I have driven past this restaurant for years and we decided tonight to give them a try. I am so disappointed that I waited so long to go. It's a small quaint place which seemed to be filled with regulars, which I know why. The service was very personable and the food was very good. We had the Mediterranean Shrimp and a chicken dish, which I cannot remember the name but was very good. I also liked their caesar salad, since it the dressing wasn't the typical creamy caesar dressing, and it was very favorable. The prices are about what you expect to pay at an Italian restaurant, maybe a tad higher, but worth it!

  • Nathan S.

Bread came wrapped in a dirty cloth. The Caesar salad had wilted black edged leaves of romaine. Go to the grocery store and get some fresh lettuce for heavens sake. The dressing was pretty good. The chicken was dry in the piccata The spaghetti carbonara was good. The service was excellent. It is difficult running a restaurant so I am giving it a pass.

We've been going to Vitello's for a couple of years. We decided to have our son's rehearsal dinner there... entertaining 40 people from out of town... Vince put together a perfect menu, the wait staff was wonderful and the food was fantastic... Even the guests from the east coast were amazed at how good the food was. Thank you Vince for making a special occasion a special memory.

This restaurant was a recommendation from friends who frequented the venue in Studio City and are friends of the family who own Vitellos. I can't say it was great and it wasn't awful. The restaurant is lovely and has a very nice inside/outside patio located in the rear part of the restaurant. Here's the story; it's a small, "quaint" atmosphere, located in a small shopping area on Thousand Oaks Boulevard in nearby Westlake Village. The service was great. Our waiter, Corie(sp) was wonderful and her support staff was also great. The food was good.....but, not great. I had Chicken Marsala and it was enough to feed 4 people. We also had Spaghetti with meat sauce and a meatball and it was great. When the bread arrived it was so hot I wanted to go to the burn unit! This bread may have been hot but not worth eating. One of the owners sat down next to our table to chat with three girls whom he obviously set up. He never excused himself for me having to move aside for him and he never took into account that my husband and I were even sitting next to him! We were in a booth! He had an opportunity to greet us, say thank you for coming, etc. nothing. Also, I took a stroll to see the outside patio and he was out there. When I commented on how pretty it was he said, "yes it is." Jerk. If this restaurant wants to remake itself they should get a better spokesperson. The one with whom we met is a looser.

Quaint little lunch spot with charm. Loved the ultra thin crust margarita pizza. Enough for two if you ordered two house salads. Really good vinaigrette on the generous house salad, garbanzos, tomatoes, cukes. Piping hot bread, crunchy crust-soft insides. Hubby's meat ball sandwich was huge and packed with tender, well seasoned meat balls. Rave reviews on that side of the table too. Service was timely and pleasant.

  • Andrea K.

Be sure to sit in the patio! The patio is roomy, not noisy and can seat your large groups. The shrimp parmigiana dish I ordered was AMAZING! Giant shrimp prepared like chicken parmigiana, some red sauce and spaghetti. SO Good!! The only reason this place is not 5 stars is the prices were a bit high. Otherwise I would be here all the time!

A very enjoyable Italian experience, whether with your significant other or your entire family. I don't rely on them for overly sophisticated dishes (there are better for that), but the chicken/veal parm, pasta dishes and pizza are great. Great food, decent prices and very friendly staff. Recommended.

We used to enjoy coming to this restaurant because we were always able to get in with little or no wait, even without reservations. We also liked the fact it didn't feel like a chain and that there appeared to be proprietary interest in the satisfaction of the customers. The food had always been pretty good, though not remarkable. Something changed on our last visit when we arrived early and with reservations to a restaurant that only had about 8 people seated, and were told by the unfriendly server that we could have the table closest to the door. It was a cold night and we didn't want to sit so close to the front door, so we asked for a table further into the restaurant -- nearly ever single table in the restaurant was empty. The server replied "sorry, they are all reserved". I guess the fact we reserved didn't mean anything. We were meeting friends that had never been and might have become new customers for the restaurant, but instead we just decided to go elsewhere. When the restaurant is empty it is just bad business for a restaurant server to give you the worst table and tell you ALL the other tables are reserved. The good news is there are many options in the Conejo valley.

We decided to partake in the Conjeo Valley Restaurant Week. So at $20 bucks a person we got a tasty 3 course meal. It was packed but the service was still good. The Minestrone soup for starters was delicious. I ordered the Gnocchi and it was okay, I wouldn't order it again. My man's dish The Veal Simtibocca was so tasty! This is what to order. The menu is huge so deciding was difficult. I would like to try their seafood portions out. Daughter got the regular plain cheese pizza and the sauce had a nice sweetness to it. For dessert-It was like a gelato cake with layers of different flavors in the middle- yes...oh yes...they had me with that fantastic thing. Than there was the dark chocolate truffle looking beast with succulent chocolate gelato just ozzing out with one bite through that chocolate shell it was divine! If anything I'd stop by just for the desserts. Oh...and homemade cannoli's...why not? :) See my dessert pictures :)

They have one of the best chopped salads in town and we were regulars most of last summer and fall until the service dropped off. It was odd...all of a sudden we were treated like unwanted family members. The manager, who we met, time and time again never seemed to recognize us. Odd, but true. Food was good. Worth a shot.

I think this restaurant offers tremendous value for the money. The food is terrific and the prices are very reasonable. I love a place where the owner comes out to check on everything. Shows he has his eye on the ball. I usually get chicken parmesan over sautéed vegetables. There is so much chicken, I always have to take home some leftovers. The service has always been good every time.

I just had lunch at this adorable restaurant. The waitress was extremely attentive and helpful. The cook even came out and thanked me for coming in. I had a dinner salad which was excellent and perfectly made to my specifications, and a hot bowl of minestrone soup! The soup was superb! Their bread is always delicious and fluffy and hot! Thank you Vitello's for being exactly what I needed! I am excited to come back again :)

First time here and probably last. The server was good and that's it! - We were a party of 8 and arrived at opening. Wines were asked for and they were out of Reisling-back ordered. The bread was hot. Two of us ordered the Veal Picata - it was sad! Tough pieces (3-4) of veal with a small bunch of mushrooms for $21 was so overpriced and the side of Zuchinni Friti was a joke (4 small pieces of Zuchinni on a plate) - the other got spaghetti with maranara that was sparse. Other items ordered at the table were Eggplant Parmasean, Lasgagna, Clams and Minnestrone soup. The busman who cleared the dishes was so rude I could not believe that he had a job. He shoved his way between people and reached across the table without an 'excuse me' - a rude hunk of a man. Enough said.

Decided to give Vitello's another visit. Had been there once before and was not particularly impressed. This time we loved it. My lasagna was outstanding, and my wife's Penne Arrabbiata was delicious. We share a caesar salad. The lettuce was fresh and green, and the dressing was tasty.

The feel of the resturant is nice as so are the decorations. There menu is overpriced for how you get it and quality. I ordered shrimp pasta with a garlic lemon sauce. It was really watery and after done eating there was butter soup at the bottom of the bowl. Very bland too. My husaband and I will probably not be back here. I think the best thing was the waitress.

Went to dinner for a nice family dinner and had an amazing experience! The food was delicious. We started with the bruschetta and caprese which we're phenomenal. I got the manicotti - amazing! Only thing better than the food and wine is the service! I think our servers name was Mary and she was great! Definitely worth a try!

Hands down my favorite place for Italian food. My husband and I have eaten here on many occasions and are never disappointed. The lasagna is the best as with most of their menu items. The ambiance is lovely and a great wine list to top it off. Always a very nice evening out

We started going to Vitellos 35 years ago - the original in Studio City. It was great then...and it's great today. The aroma of a classic family style Italian restaurant is just perfect and the family recipes that have been part of this great tradition continue to delight. I grew up in NY and spent time in the world capital of family style italian - Little Italy on the lower east side. You walk in and you're there - only with better service. There is a lot to be said for a restaurant where they cook GREAT FOOD. And Vitello's Italian Tratorria doesn't put on airs...no slick gimmicks or trying to be to cool. It's all about the food, service and connecting with family and happy times. Salute!

This was our first experience at Vitello's. We tried it out for Conejo Valley Restaurant Week. There were six of us and everything was excellent. I had the Fillet of Sole and it was perfectly prepared. The Gnocchi, Chicken Parm and pizza were all well prepared. Our server was the best. He greeted us all when we arrived at the back door and made sure our dining experience great. He and his assistant respected our conversation while providing excellent service. We will certainly be back!

Amazing food. Great service and price was just right ! Can't wait to go back. They have a great outdoor dining experience big enough for private party. I had the shrimp scampi pasta with extra garlic ! The desserts were out of this world ....

A nice restaurant with good food. I loved the rolled gelato dessert. Unfortunately, one of the servers would get uncomfortably close to me and would brush up against me. For that alone, I would not want to come back.

It is difficult for me to write a review with one star, but unfortunately Vitello's deserves it. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night, date night, and began our order with the calamari fritti. I've had calamari almost everywhere, and I have to say this was some of the worst calamari I have ever had. The calamari was rubbery and the batter was tasteless. Also, it cost about 13 dollars (which is around normal for a GOOD calamari). I ordered the chicken parm which was good, however, for the price, it was nothing special. Chicken parm was around 18-19 dollars, and it was nothing special at all. It was regular chicken parm. The side pasta they serve with it was tasteless and boring. For a meal of that price, I was expecting something a little more than 'below average'--as would anyone. My date had the lasagna which was clearly baked from frozen because the center of her lasagna was cold, while the top was sizzling hot. Again, for the price, I would expect fresh product and something more than 'below average'. She did not want to take her leftovers home because of the poor experience. Please consider the above before dining at Vitello's. We came into this restaurant with optimistic thoughts, and left overly disappointed. The management here needs to reorient themselves toward customer satisfaction and not a "cheap product for an expensive price" model.

My wife and I stopped by to arrange a 30 person lunch for our son's soccer team and we stayed for lunch. Vince and his staff are friendly and accommodating. We had sandwiches (Italian cold cut and meatball/cheese) with soup and salad. They bake their bread every day, all day. The food was fantastic! The atmosphere is pleasant and clean. We will update again after the soccer/pizza melee! The bill was $30 with tip for 2 people! Not bad at all.

Hello east coasters! If you are looking for authentic New York style pizza, this is the only place to go in the Thousand Oaks area. We've only done take out, but have always been thrilled with the quality of food, authenticity, and friendliness of the staff. They know me by name already. Love it!

I came in last night with my girlfriend to have dinner here the place was clean and the waitress was nice and helpfully with the menu I got the chicken Marsala and my girlfriend got the chicken parmigiana it was delicious. Clean and neat decor Who would have known that the hot pillow like supermarket bread would be the best part of the meal Baked clams were like rubber with a cake packed bread crumb Calamari had a thick shake and bake coating, not good at all, how can something deep fried be so dry Pasta with butter and cheese for the kids were ok A small lesson in restaurant management 101, when there is a hair in the customer's food that ends up in their mouth, it is common sense to have a manager come and apologize and remove it from the bill, especially when 3/4 of the plate is still on the plate

NOTE: Before I commence my review, it should be noted that this is a solid 4.5 star rated restaurant on Yelp when you factor in the 35 filtered reviews. Please see my note at the end of this review for a full explanation. THE SHORT: If you were ever a fan of Vitello's on Tujunga in Studio City (before the awful 2011 management/chef change), then this is the place for you. If you're a fan of NY/East Coast, red sauce Italian, then this is the place for you. If you're a fan of clean restaurants that serve delicious food and provide great service, then this is the place for you. Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm, Linguini with Clam Sauce, Pollo Pomodoro, Cannoli -- the list of great dishes goes on and on. THE LONG: I am a longtime fan of the original Vitello's in Studio City (see my review for that restaurant). When the new owner's flushed the original Vitello's down the toilet, I was ecstatic to learn the old owners had already opened a new restaurant in Thousand Oaks. A bit of a trek from Van Nuys, but completely worth it. This is my favorite red sauce Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. The wine list is good. The desserts are good. Everything is homemade. If you're in the area, I strongly urge you to give them a try and decide for yourself. AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT YELP: As I post this, this restaurant has 9 reviews averaging only 3 stars. If I didn't know better, I would avoid this place based on that because I almost never try a place that averages less than 4 stars. But here's the thing, if you look at the bottom of the page, they also have 35 "filtered reviews." 32 of those 35 are 5 stars (and 1 is a 4 star). So how/why do reviews end up filtered? Yelp keeps that information secret, but I can tell you for sure what two of those reasons are (and likely these are the two reasons that most apply in this case): One, reviews by "newbie" Yelpers (less than 10 reviews). Two, flagged reviews. I'll explain... If a reviewer has a small number of reviews, Yelp is automatically suspicious that the reviewer is a fake account opened by an employee of the restaurant or a friend. These reviews are not automatically filtered, but if someone "flags" the review of a newbie, then Yelp assumes the combination of those two factors must mean it's at high risk of being fake. But here's the problem, if your clientele are not Yelp experienced, but love your establishment so much they put in the time and effort to join Yelp and write reviews, and then someone comes along and flags those reviews (say, hypothetically, the owner of a competing Italian restaurant), then all the reviews from those new users are banished to Yelp purgatory for the foreseeable future. I believe that to be the case here. Anyone with a brain can read 30 reviews and decide for themselves how many are fake. I did just that and came up with 0. If you were to count all reviews, including the 2 filtered bad ones, this restaurant would rate a much deserving 4.5 stars (based on 44 total reviews, a more than generous sample size for Yelp). Filtered reviews are a part of Yelp, I get that. But when the number of filtered reviews is nearly 4 times the unfiltered reviews, there's a problem with the algorithms. I found this worthy of pointing out in this case. I hope you enjoyed coming to Yelp for a food review and getting a lesson on computer programming formulas. PS - Don't forget to try Vitello's Trattoria.

GREAT CANNOLI !!!!!!!!!! So just moving out here from Los Angeles and missing the small trattorias my wife and I used to walk to. We saw this great looking place and decided to check it out. ... Great service from the start though I would have liked to know our waiter's name. I asked what he would recommend, and he responded by asking what we liked eating (beef, poultry, seafood, ect.) and told us he could offer his advice based on that; a great start. I like to judge a restaurant on a margahrita pizza so we started there. It was a nice thin crust; with a fresh sauce and shredded mozzerella with fresh basil. For me, I would like to have seen and fresh sliced tomato with some fresh fresh buffalo mozz... the flavor was nice though. Great appetizer and we brought the rest home. My wife ordered the fresh clams with fettuccine and white wine sauce, while I ordered the veal saltmboccia. The veal was prepared well, with the fontina and proccuitto. Portion size was right on. There was ALOT of spinach and mushroom on the plate and the presention was... interesting. The FLAVOR of the food WAS GREAT. However, I missed he sage. If it was there, it was overwhelmed by the fonitina. My dish was served with a zuccini fritti which was nice and light. I tried my wife's clams and it fell flat. There needed to be some fresh garlic tossed with the sauce, and for my taste some fresh herb... Italian parsley? The dish would be phenomenal. The clams were cooked perfecly, and so was the pasta. Al dente... Over all the dish was good. The cannoli for desert was devine, and I would have loved to take several home for Easter. Amazing. I loved the over all feel of the restaurant , and I will be back. It reminded my wife and I of a trattoria in LA we spent some good times at. The food is good, and with a few tweaks, it could be great. I look forward to returning to this restaurant.

Vitellos is amazing! Their bread is award winning in my book. I love their meatball subs for lunch. When I go for dinner their pastas are all so good. Wait staff is attentive and the cooks are great! They have a great little back patio too for parties.

Thank you Vitellos for a wonderful dinner, from being seated to enjoying a delicious meal, it was all A+. The hot, crusty bread, the blue cheese dressing, the manicotti in your red sauce--the chicken cacciatore served with a wedge of lemon--all the best! And the complimentary canolli--so good. If anyone is looking for authentic Italian food, this is the place. And I can't not mention our waiter who was very attentive and professional. It was as good as it gets.

We met some friends who have eaten several times at the new location. I never ate at Romeo's but my husband had and he thought there was a huge improvement in the place. We brought our own wine and were graciously and promptly served. The service was outstanding. As good as any place. We ate on the heated patio and while it was very cold outside, the heaters kept all of us toasty. The food was delicious. Everything we ate was perfectly prepared. One of us ate Eggplant, I ate Veal Piccata our friends had chicken. None of us was disappointed - we were all delighted with our choices. We will definitely go back again and try some other new dishes.

I'd been wondering what this new place was like. Too much like Romeos - average. Too bad. We walk into the place and who is stand there but Frankie Avalon - talking to the cooks in the kitchen, telling how to make it like his mama did! A good sign so far. The place looks the same as Romeos did, maybe a little neater. The service was good. The wine good, but the beer menu sucked. Oh well, I would never drink beer in Italy, so it's just as well. We ordered the House salad, Meatball w/Fettuccini, and my test entree, Spaghetti Carbonera. They brought bread - so crispy, it ended up all over the table. Salad was average, at best. My wife enjoyed her Meatball order and my Carbonera was tasty - but again, both just average. We really have enough average Italian places in T.O. already.

We just had a wonderful pre-wedding dinner for out of town family at Vitello's Trattoria. Vince was wonderful to work with, the room easily accommodated 30 people with room for mingling as well. The food was delicious (a special shootout to the Pizzetti di Stefano and Homemade Cannoli!). The staff were attentive and their service and the great private setting created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all.

5 minute wait for the hostess and then a 15 minute wait at my table with absolutely no service even though both tables on either side of me got multiple visits. Another waiter did the old pan and scan 4 times but made zero effort. Can't rate what I didn't eat since I walked out. Hostess not there again......any acknowledgement by any staff and I would have stayed. They were busy but plenty of open tables. So much for my restaurant week experience. They had the nicest menu options which is worth the 1 star.

Not fancy in any way, but the food was decent. Service was friendly but not particularly helpful. The manager graciously provided me with a new glass of wine when a bug or something fell into mine. There is a nice selection of wines, but my white wine wasn't very cold and the glasses weren't of high quality. The dining room area is kind of cramped and the location is hardly inspiring, but the back patio was more spacious and seemed inviting. The minestrone was tasty. We had basic spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce, and it was good, tasty, basic red sauce and meat. The salads at the table next to us looked quite over-dressed, but the rest of the food at the other tables looked appealing. Again, this is not foodie-grade food, but if you're craving good old-fashioned Italian food, this is a good place. It convenient and moderately priced. I'm happy to have a basic Italian place like this since Paul's in Simi Valley closed.

The food is really good but you cannot leave this place without ending the meal with the BEST CANNOLI I've eaten! I've driven down T.O. Blvd many times and never noticed this small little restaurant, unfortunately the sign is easily missed. Thankfully, I was referred here by a friend who recommended the homemade Italian dressing, lasagna and cannoli. I was not disappointed. I've been here several times now and the service is always very professional and accommodating. The only downside is when the place is on the emptier side the staff can be a little to accommodating. Hard to imagine, I know, but they have a tendency to spend a lot of time at your table asking if you need anything else. I admit, this is a ridiculous complaint to make which is why it doesn't lower my stars.

I've only been here for lunch but each time has been lovely. The food is wonderful and consistently fresh and the wait-staff has been very attentive. I'll be a regular and have recommended to several friends for dining in and for take-out. It is a hidden gem for quality Italian food. The patio in the back is perfect for larger gatherings too.

It doesn't get much better than this place when it comes down to finding Italian food that tastes like it came straight from Italy. The pizza and pasta was amazing and even though it's more food than I like to eat for lunch the Sausage Sandwich was great. The service was great also both times I went.

The appetizers of the thin crust pizza was the best item we had. We had a party of four and none of us were overwhelmed by our entrees. The pricing I thought was on the high side for what seemed to be pretty simple dishes. Only a $42 bottle of wine and dinner, only 1 salad and the tab was around $150, not sure it was worth it.

Looks like this restaurant has been open about 2 weeks now, and driving by decided to give it a try. This is where the old Romio's used to be. We did get our food to go - so this is only a reflection on that. Perhaps dining in would change my rating. I ordered the lasagna, figured safe for a first time experience. It was good, but nothing that screamed outstanding. The pasta was a little soft for my taste, spices were a little muted, and I think I only had one slice of sausage in the whole thing. The kids were happy with their meals of pizza and chick parm sandwich. We also had canoli, that was very tasty. There was a very pleasant young lady staffing the front who informed us that they may have wine tasting events in the future, but nothing right now. I would definitely be back for that. However, no doubt my wife and I will probably stop by here for the full experience and sit down to eat one day soon.

From the very first time we ever walked into Vitello's, we became fans. Warm, friendly, and very welcoming greeting, often by the owner, Vince. Fresh hot bread is brought to your table as soon as you sit down. Your taste buds start salivating with the aroma. Appetizers and salads are generously portioned, and Vitello's house made Ceasar dressing with 22 ingredients is the best we've ever had. The only entrees I haven't tried are those with shellfish, and that's because of an allergy, although my wife's favorite is one of the shrimp dishes, Shrimp Mediterranean. I don't think I could pick one single dish as my favorite, since I've liked everything I've ordered. The numerous veal entrees have all been excellent, and for the simplest of Italian fare, you can't miss with the Capelinni, angel hair pasta, prepared with garlic and olive oil. For dessert, there is dark and white chocolate, however they offer one of the most delicious Cannoli's you'll ever sink a fork into. Usually, on Friday and Saturday night's, you'll find Vince's Dad back in the kitchen lending his expertise and keeping alive the tradition of the original Vitello's in Studio City. Like his son, he tries to walk the front of the house, when time permits, asking guests if everything is the way they hoped it would be. That is almost always a resounding, yes! The servers are attentive, efficient, helpful, and a wealth of knowledge if you have any questions about the dishes on the menu, and even, sometimes, about things that aren't on the menu. Every member of the staff at Vitello's contributes to a very enjoyable dining experience. We have suggested Vitello's to a great number of our family and friends, and every one of them has said they had a fantastic meal, and a good time.

If you like authentic Italian food, Vitello's is a gem in Thousand Oaks! Vince has continued his father's original recipes and is serving them in an intimate yet cozy setting. Cameron was our server and his humor and knowledge of the wine selections made us feel right at home. The selections of wines were perfect for us and the price was right! As an appetizer, we started with the Zucchini Fritti, served with a side of marinara sauce. Yum! The Chicken Parmesan is moist on the inside and just crispy enough on the outside with a very flavorful sauce. We also had the Cannelloni, very beefy inside and the sauce was perfectly seasoned. A little known secret is that with any entrée, you can order a soup or a considerably portioned salad for only $1.95 additional. To top off this fabulous meal, we had to have the made-to-order Cannoli. These are filled just before serving, keeping the shells crisp. The pistachio pieces made this an original specialty and the best I've ever had! Don't let the lower prices fool you! The food is what you'd expect from a much higher priced restaurant! Thank you, Vince, for continuing your dad's legacy and recipes! We will definitely return every time we are in town!

Our favorite Italian Restaurant in the area. Great menu, amazing service and we love the family atmosphere. We are there at least once a week and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend if you want to have the feeling of being in Italy.

Let me start off by saying we love trying new places. Let me start off by sayin the food was not good and we won't be going back. We ordered the Calamari which was tough and chewy. Did not taste fresh at all. The bread was something you would get at MiMis cafe not at a Italian place. Two of us ordered fresh clams with linguini which was bland could barely taste any garlic or herbs and the pasta was over cooked. The other 2 meals were just ok and would have been better if the spaghetti was not over cooked. (Mushy pasta) I do have to say the service was great and thats the only reason I gave it a 2. So many really good Italian restaurants in the area Grassini, Cafe Firenza, Tuscany and Vivoli.

Not the best experience. Although the food was good, the service was horrible. The server was completely unfamiliar with the menu. We had a larger party and the server had no idea that a side of pasta came with four of the main dishes (such as veal parmigiana) . It took quite a long time to even get our food. A number of parties who came after us were served first. When the customer knows more about the food and customer service than the server, don't expect a wonderful dining experience. The owner seemed indifferent to our concerns. A friend recommended this restaurant to us and it was just not up to par. Definitely not worth the money. Try Vivoli instead.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
